FAQ
What is Arts en Plein Air?
Arts en Plein Air is a newly coined term that includes all forms of artistic expression performed outdoors. It goes beyond traditional open-air painting to encompass any creative activity outside conventional indoor spaces — from visual arts, music, and dance to theater, circus, magic, mime, sculpture, and more.
What does FAPA mean?
FAPA stands for la Fondation Internationale des Arts en Plein Air (the International Foundation of Arts en Plein Air). It’s an international foundation dedicated to supporting and promoting outdoor artistic expression in all its forms.
What does FAPA offer?
FAPA offers outdoor artists international exposure and recognition through two flagship initiatives: the FAPA Yearbook, a curated publication that showcases outstanding outdoor art from around the world, and the FAPA International Festival “Arts en Plein Air”, where artists can present their work live, connect with global audiences, and collaborate with fellow creators.
In addition, our website provides a platform for artists to upload photos and videos of their work, allowing them to share their creations with the world and gain valuable exposure.
These platforms are designed to elevate Arts en Plein Air and position artists for long-term recognition and impact.
How do I get featured in the FAPA Yearbook? (includes Curatorial Board review process)
To apply for inclusion in the FAPA Yearbook, artists must submit a list of their works using the official submission form provided by FAPA. You may choose to submit works already uploaded to the FAPA website or works from your personal collection.
There is no fixed limit to the number of works you can submit for review, and the final number can be discussed with the FAPA team.
All submissions are reviewed by FAPA’s Curatorial Board, composed of subject-matter experts across various disciplines. The review period may vary depending on the number of works submitted and the time of year, but it can take up to one month. Final results will be communicated individually to each applicant.
How long will my work be featured in the FAPA Yearbook?
The feature duration is one year. The start date of the listing will be determined by FAPA.
How do I participate in FAPA International Festivals?
Participants for the FAPA International Festivals are selected from among the artists featured in the FAPA Yearbook.
Is there a limit on the file size for uploading photos or videos?
All members can upload photos or videos at any time without any file size restrictions.
How do I upload videos?
Video uploads are supported via YouTube links only (embedded videos). These links will appear and play as regular videos on your profile.
To embed a video, first upload it to your own YouTube channel. Once the video is published, click the “Share” button below the video, then select “Embed” to generate the embed code. Copy the full embed code provided.
Then, go to your profile on the FAPA website, navigate to the upload section, and paste the embed code in the designated field for videos.
This ensures your video is displayed properly and can be viewed directly on your page.
How can I apply for copyright protection for my work?
Please contact the FAPA team directly for individual assistance with copyright protection.
